Described and shown in diagram in 1891 BHVIA 2nd An. Rpt.Shown on the small 1896 path map included in the BHVIA 7th An. Rpt. as the northern terminus of the Gorge Path.    The route appears to be modified on the 1903 path map.  The northern end no longer extends to the Kebo Valley Club.  Instead it joints with the Kebo Mountain Path, swings around the northern base of Kebo Mt. to meet Harden Road.On the larger 1896 path map, the path on the west side of the stream is labeled the Gorge Path (see trail #320).  This path leads from/to the Kebo Valley Club.  Both of these trails were likely eliminated after the Park Loop road was constructed through the area.

The historic trail system of Acadia National Park is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, recognized for its national significance and ties to the history of Mount Desert Island and establishment of the park. The system's period of significance starts in 1844 and ends in 1942. The listing encompasses 109 trails traversing 117 miles on Mount Desert Island (some extending outside the park) and includes 18 memorial plaques, 12 viewpoints, and unique engineering features.
