Louisa was a frequent summer visitor to Mount Desert Island staying at her husband Mike Kennedy's family home, Chiltern, in Bar Harbor. After Mike Kennedy's retirement the couple moved to Mount Desert Island in 1997 building a home at 13 Prays Meadow Road in Somesville, ME. They named it Chiltern after Mike's family summer home. Louisa was active in Mt. Desert Garden Club, Bar Harbor Garden Club, MDI Nursing Association, and the Mount Desert Island Historical Society.
